Procedure:
1. Label the Spotting Tiles A, B & C. Fill the well of the Spotting Tile with the correct type of Solvent.

2. Dip 1 end of the Cotton Bud into Solvent A.

3. Rub the Cotton Bud onto Solute A.

4. Record the Results.

5. Repeat steps 2 & 4 (using a new Cotton Bud each time) until Solvent A has been tried on all the Solutes.

6. Repeat steps 2 & 4 until all Solvents have been tried on all Solutes.

Which was the BEST Solvent for each of these solutes?

• The BEST solvent for Nail Varnish is Acetone, because the Acetone is Nail Varnish Remover & it clearly clears all the Nail Polish off.
  
• The BEST solvent for Correction Fluid is Acetone, because it clearly cleans all of the Fluid off.
• The BEST Solvent for the White Board Marker is Water, because with a bit more of extra rubbing it cleans the solute better than the others.
• The BEST Solvent for Permanent Marker is Acetone, because it clearly cleans off all the stains.

 Overall, which was the BEST solvent? Why?

The BEST solvent is Acetone, because it can dissolve all 4 solutes & can dissolve all the solute & not leave ANY stains.
